Traditional Wood Fire Workshop
Bring your bisque pots and participate in the process of a traditional wood firing. You will choose a few hours during to work along side our faculty, Hiro Tashima, in the initial process of feeding the fire with cords of wood as the temperature comes to its 2000+ degrees, or continuing to feed the fire to maintain the melting temperature for another 12 hours before cooling begins. The next weekend, the kiln shelves will be scraped and ash cleaned up revealing the beauty of pots from a traditional wood firing. A mixture of Arizona grown pecan and pine is typically used to achieve the golden shine. This is an experience you’ll never forget!
A 10-week emersion starting from the early days in Liverpool. This course tracks John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison through their history, becoming a world phenomena, how the Beatles style influenced music and culture. Participants will spend time listening to the music using materials from educator Scott Freiman and discussing the development of the band. Special guest Chris O’Dell who worked with the Beatles, will speak at a class session to be determined. Spring, 2022 West Campus, Tuesdays, January 18 – March 22.
English Pronunciation for Non-Native Speakers
If you would like to improve your pronunciation of the English language, we have a class that will help you understand and be understood in spoken English. By the end of the course, you are certain to feel more confident in your abilities. This class takes the basic pronunciation class and goes a level deeper with more opportunity to work with specific sounds and techniques.
