Dental Studies
Expanded Function: Dental Auxiliary and Restorative
This course is designed to meet the Arizona State training requirements for Dental Assistants and Dental Hygienists taking the DANB-Certified Restorative Functions Examination required for certification. The content of the course has been approved by the Arizona State Board of Health, Dental Hygiene Licensing Board.
Prerequisite for Dental Assistants: At the time of course registration, we require proof of one-year chairside assisting experience in general dentistry within the past 2 years.
Prerequisite for Dental Hygienists: At the time of course registration, we require proof of current status as Registered Dental Hygienist (License), current CPR certification, HepB Immunization, current Malpractice Insurance.

Rosemary Ortega is the Program Director for Dental Assisting Education at Pima Community College. Ms. Ortega holds certifications as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA), Coronal Polish, and Radiation Health & Safety. She is passionate about preparing dental professional students with the skills, professionalism, and confidence needed to excel in today’s dental workforce.
